"The best teamwork comes from men who are working independently toward one goal in unison."

-- James Cash Penney, Founder of J.C. Penney Stores

Mastermind groups around the nation are developing to bring into play the words from Mr. Penney that teamwork is what makes us a success.

I recently began working with a woman in my main field of interest, organizing, and day after day we both comment how we're both on the same page.  Asking each other if we're psychic, because what comes out of one of our mouth's is what the other was thinking.

Working as a  team to effect change in our lives is the basis for  starting a mastermind group.  When a group works on the problems of a team member there can only be change for the good.

So what is a mastermind group anyway?

Let's say that you are in insurance.  You sell health and life insurance, but your sales are down.  You are continuing to do the same things every day, but are still struggling to get people to sign on the dotted line.

The possibilities of a mastermind group for you could be endless.  A group of your peers and some who are not in insurance sales, but sales in another area could help you to see where you are falling down in your attempts.

By discussing your sales techniques, your closing techniques or the way you go about determining if your prospect needs insurance with your mastermind group could reveal weak points.  With them you can develop a plan of action that leads you to growth.

Action Plan:

Approach a group of other insurance agents and propose the idea of meeting and working on problems each of you are having in the market.

Begin meeting once a week or every other week and have everyone present a problem they are having in business.  Then work together by analyzing the problem and coming up with methods for solving the problems.  Once a month have someone be the center of attention, or hot seat, and delve into that person's problem specifically.

Once  you've done this a few times you will be amazed at how much more energy you have with new ideas, new ways of doing the old job and perhaps your sales will have increased.

Since this was just one type of business, if you are not in insurance, you can still apply it to your area of expertise.  Try it and see and let me know how it's going.

For now, enjoy your week and tune back in soon,
